April 2010

Throughout its seven year history, Holy Grounds has been extremely blessed to be able
to feature some of the very best local Christian performers. Those in attendance already
know, but April’s show was no exception, thanks to the gifts of lyric and song delivered
by Lillian Anderson, Dan Giangiobbe, and Janet Huderski.
The evening consisted of two sets of music, ministry, and laughter that passed by all
too quickly. Lillian got the evening underway, performing some of her own songs, beautifully delivered with a
lilting voice and acoustic guitar, including Treasures of Darkness (inspired by
the Book of Isaiah), and One Beam of Light. Lillian also shared many of her own
personal challenges and how they helped shape her life and ministry, which made this
already noteworthy performer seem even more remarkable.
Dan Giangiobbe then took the stage and performed some memorable duets with Lillian, and
also offered some great solo pieces as well. For those who haven’t had the pleasure,
Dan has the vocal quality of a John Fogarty, and (to me, anyway), that’s never a bad
thing. His The Sky Above You and Regular Joe are also great both lyrically
and musically. On a completely unrelated note, he also does very solid imitations of
Bill Clinton, Ed Sullivan, and Rodney Dangerfield. (How many Christian artists can you
say that about?) Dan and Lillian also exhibited a great chemistry both amongst themselves
and with the crowd, and the connection with those in attendance was obvious. Throughout
the evening there were as many moments of thoughtful contemplation as there were witty
quips and near-slapstick antics.
The second set introduced the audience to the third member of April’s trio, Janet
Huderski. Janet opened her brief set with Holy Ground, which given the location
and name of the venue, seemed appropriate. Like Lillian and Dan, Janet had a great
sound, and was well received. One of Janet’s best moments came toward the end of the
evening when Lillian and Dan joined her onstage for Dan’s rendition of Our Father,
a lively and upbeat number that helped top an already entertaining and uplifting night.
Our heartfelt thanks got out to Lillian Anderson, Dan Giangiobbe, Janet Huderski, and
‘Baaab the Sheep’ (in a cameo appearance) for joining us to share their talents with us.
